Basic Rundown on K-Style Gutters

Gutters are one of the most important parts of your home since they protect your home against rainwater accumulation. They channel water away from your foundation, doors, windows and exterior walls to keep them functional and beautiful. One of the most popular gutter styles is called K-style gutters.

The Reason Behind the Name

You might think that K-style gutters are called by their name since they resemble the letter “K”. However, this isn’t the case. Gutters come in various sizes and profiles, and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) created a list of the 12 most popular rectangular gutter styles. It just so happens that the K-style gutter is the eleventh one on the list. Since the eleventh letter of the alphabet is the letter K, it was named as such.

K-Style Gutters Are the Most Popular Gutters

Around 80% of the roofing systems in the United States are K-style gutters. Your gutter and roofing contractor will tell you that this is significantly influenced by their efficiency due to the K-style profile and seamless design.

Seamless gutters are oftentimes custom-made for each home, so you can be sure that it’s truly meant for your home’s style. This allows you to create a continuous flow for your gutter in each section of your home, instead of having numerous gutter pieces spliced together. You can further protect this investment by adding gutter covers for extra durability and efficiency.
