A Closer Look at CertainTeed® Starter Shingles

When it comes to maintaining your roofing system, you can have the best roof repair contractor in the country, but your roof is always going to be only as good as its installation. Quality workmanship and the right set of starter shingles are two important hallmarks of an effective and long-lasting roof. CertainTeed® has created its own line of starter shingles designed to keep your roofing system in good shape for years to come.

SwiftStart® Starter Shingles

Some enhanced CertainTeed product warranties require the use of a SwiftStart® starter shingles, but they are most often paired with the Landmark® Series shingles. These shingles work well for both low- and high-pitched roofs; however, installation of the latter must be handled by a certified steep-slope roofing contractor to ensure code adherence and quality.

High-Performance Starter

CertainTeed has made the High-Performance Starter specifically for their Integrity Roof System®, but, today, these starter strips can be used in a number of different applications. They pair best with the GrandManor® and Highland Slate® series, providing them with the best performance even under extreme weather conditions.

Presidential® Starter

For homes with a Presidential Shake® TL or Presidential Shake tabs, it’s best to start the installation with the Presidential Starter set. This set can also work well with Arcadia Shake® shingles and makes for a luxury alternative to the High-Performance Starter in CertainTeed Integrity Roof System®.
